Cellar 59 Wine Bar and Wine Shop -- Stow, OH

On Wednesday we went out with our friends to celebrate our usual mid-week wine Wednesday. We stumbled upon Cellar 59 by accident while traveling from Chapel Hill mall to Stow, when we saw the wine bar sign, we decided to add it to our list of places to check out. Our wine Wednesday events are pretty hit or miss. When our first friend arrived there weren't many people there, but after a half hour or so many of the tables we filled. Cellar 59 has a small list of wines that you can order by the glass or you can choose a bottle from their wine shop and for a $10 corking fee they'll chill the bottle if necessary and open it for your table. I guess split between the three of us an extra $10 really wasn't that big of a deal, but I wish they had said something when we chose the bottle of wine, instead it appears at the bottom of the menu in tiny print. Velvet Tango Room -- Cleveland, OH

V elvet Tango Room is in a nondescript hole-in-the wall located on the fringes of the Ohio City and Tremont neighborhoods of Cleveland. From the outside the facade of the Velvet Tango Room blends right into the dilapidated buildings that surround the venue. On Friday night, the street was quiet, the glow of downtown was behind us, but Columbus street was dark. Had we not been to the Velvet Tango Room before, the glow of the neon sign would have been the only thing to lead us to our destination. The Velvet Tango Room is not like other bars, there are numerous articles touting how exclusive and elusive entrance to the Velvet Tango Room can be. You see, there is no need to make reservations to sit in the front room; although the venue is a secret in and of itself, the secret backroom, which is accessible by key card entrance only, requires reservations in advance...sometimes weeks in advance. Duck Tape Festival -- Avon, Ohio

This was my first visit to the Duck Tape Festival in Avon. The dates for 2015 were June 19, 20 and 21, the festival is always held on Father's Day weekend. As soon as we arrived at Veteran's Memorial Park it was clear that this festival was incredibly well organized. There was parking on site and there were volunteers directing parking and even though we arrived near the beginning of the festival on the 19, there were quite a few cars already parked. The first thing we did was stop at the Ducktivities Arts and Crafts Tent. We had a multitude of patterned duck tape to choose from and there were instructions for making wallets, belts, roses, etc. I crafted an owl purse (there were no instructions, but there was a picture of this design on the wall of the tent) and Dave made a wallet from the instructions provided.
