Deck the Hall 2018 at Stan Hywet -- Akron, OH
Last week we got a sneak peek of Stan Hywet's 2018 Deck the Hall. It's always a treat to visit Stan Hywet and extra special this year since we were married there in September 2017. The snow we received last Thursday added some holiday magic to the decorations around the hall and gardens although it was a bit chilly while we were walking around. If you visit, remember that you'll be walking through the grounds so you will need to wear good footwear and dress warm.
Deck the Hall runs on Select Nights Only:
November 23-25, 29-30, December 1-2, 6-9, 13-23, 26-30, 2018
Tickets vary in price depending on the day -- all of the rates can be found here.
This blog certainly doesn't capture everything that Deck the Hall has to offer and is merely meant to give a preview. We've attended Deck the Hall with out of town guests in past years and had a great time. The children's play area is turned into Gingerbread land for the event so between the lights and the play area there are also activities geared towards children.
Admission opens at 5:00 and Santa lights the tree at 5:30 in the weeks prior to Christmas, after Christmas you can spot the Gingerbread Man at the same time. There are also concessions available for purchase at the start of Deck the Hall just remember that you cannot take food and drink inside the manor house (beer, wine, hot cocoa, hot cider, freshly baked gingerbread cookies, soft pretzels).
Deck the Hall features one million lights throughout the grounds and manor house.
Admission also allows you to tour the manor house which is decorated for Christmas.
We got married in this spot, I highly recommend Stan Hywet if you're looking for a wedding venue and although I'm partial to the Teahouses, there are many other scenic places to choose from for your ceremony.
The conservatory is also decked out for Christmas and the poinsettia tree is perfect for photo ops.
Dazzle is a light show choreographed to music, there are also usually outdoor heaters in this area.
