Noodlecat -- Cleveland, OH

Last weekend Dave and I went up to Cleveland to see Fun Home. We snagged season tickets to Playhouse Square for the 2016-2017 season and it was the first show that we had tickets to. Whenever we see a show at Playhouse Square we love to park near East 4th, enjoy a restaurant there, and then walk down to the theater. For this visit it was my turn to choose the restaurant and it's been four years since I tried NoodleCat. Ironically, I first went there after an Indians game in 2012 and the Indians were playing in Cleveland last Saturday.

NoodleCat is owned by Team Sawyer Restaurant Group, owned by Cleveland Chef Jonathan Sawyer (who we loved watching compete on Chopped), in March we visited the Greenhouse Tavern one of his other restaurants which is located on East 4th Street.

I'm glad we got there a little after noon, Cleveland was already packed for the 4:08 game, and NoodleCat filled up after we got served with our lunch.

Dave and I shared an order of the Tempura Vegetable Steam Buns. This was my first time eating a steam bun and they were so ridiculously good. I didn't know that a small sandwich like that could be so flavorful, but I'm looking forward to going back to NoodleCat to order more.

For lunch I ate the Power Salad made with avocado, sweet potato, kale, ancient grains, sesame, blueberries, and a ponzu dressing. I really enjoyed the salad, the dressing had great flavor, all of the ingredients went together nicely, and I left lunch full, but not overly stuffed.

Dave ordered the Nama Ramen Bowl with Coconut Curry Tonkatsu -- tofu, kimchi, coconut curry, and cilantro (removed from our bowl at my request). Dave also added a six-minute egg to the bowl. Despite jalapenos being being in the dish, it wasn't spicy at all. We loved the flavor of all of the ingredients and it was a really nice sized portion.

NoodleCat is a pretty fast casual sort of restaurant, you seat yourself and you're in and out pretty quickly. They do serve cocktails and have happy hour from 1:00-7:00 which will make some drinks as well as the scrumptious steam buns reduced in price. Our server Emily was great and she went above and beyond for all of her customers. At one point she even set down some drinks in order to rush outside to help a patron that was in a wheel chair.

My rating for NoodleCat:
